As we now know they need a sub-tropical tank and finding South American tank mates that we can actually buy in ZA isnt easy. Other than Corys what catfish can I keep at this temp.
I have a well established, reasonably densely planted tank with very little (to no algae). I would love to get a bristlenose just because I like them.

I also have a fishpond where I can collect handfuls of fresh algae with ease.

1) I suppose I could easily feed the fish with the algae...correct?
2) What is the risk for my stable little-algae situation in the tank?
It must be because he's good and eats all his veg also he doesn't like sharing with snails at all and swats them off with his tail, weird thing too is he doesn't seem to like sitting on top of his veg to eat and instead pushes it about until he can eat on his side, or better yet, upside down!
Step 1- spend a few minutes looking for the pleco... there he is, as usual on the huge piece of drift wood
Step 2- drop the wafer in the tank near the pleco... pleco swims away...
Step 3- drop another wafer in the direction he's swimming... ooohhh driftwood, pleco stops to lick the bark
