      <title>Koi Pond repair</title>

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[I have a largish koi pond that came with our house.<br />
As far as I can see, it is series of concrete shells over a pvc membrane. There are about 5 smaller ponds that cascade into the largest one which has koi in it.<br />
<br />
Now the top one leaks. I have bypassed the waterfall into the second pond using pool hoses so everything works normally.<br />
<br />
How do I seal the top pond? It has had membrane and bitumen type stuff on it.<br />
I will have to remove what remains of the membrane and repair the cracks in the...<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Having past the point of &quot;one day when i grow up&quot; - i finally got around to muck about with my own thoughts for a pond - below being the WIP result.  <br />
The tub thing at the top (first pic) is where i indulge in my plant hobby using fish water from the pond - it also has a thick substrate layer - the pond itself has 2 water lilliies and waterblommetjies that are coming out now.  Giant and normal valis as well and java moss.  <br />
Fish wise - would have sold my soul to get local species, but not...<br />

We noticed some growths on some fish and heard it may be overstocking. So we moved 11 fish to the duck pond - no ducks any more as we got a husky.. I also moved some floating plants across. <br />

Not sure of the exact amount of water the final pond will hold, but it will be in the region of 1500-2000L.<br />
<br />
Outer dimensions of the pond are roughly 3m x 1.2m. It will be built out of double layer brick walls, with concrete foundation, and will again be a raised pond (the foundation will be below ground level but the walls will be above, somewhere between 70cm-1m high, I&#039;m still figuring that out.<br />

The part marked in yellow is about 1,8m wide (from the wall to the edging) and the main section about 2m long (excluding that possible little extension). So unfortunately still pretty compact.<br />

Got the wood for the basic frame of the pond, 24 x 1m lengths. So it turns out it&#039;s going to be a 1x1 instead of 1x1.2m because they didn&#039;t have enough 2.4m lengths of wood at the store. It should still work out to about 700L though because I think it will be slightly higher than I originally thought, due to the width of the wood, so I should be able...<br />

I have stocked it with 7 small koi.<br />
I have a ultra zap zap filter that is rated for ponds of up to 2200l<br />
My problem is the pond water is going green.(more of a light green) <br />
I got no uv clarifier.<br />
the bottom of the pond has no sludge <br />
and the water if taken out in a clear container is pretty clear.<br />
but in the pond it has a green colour.<br />
the pond is now 3-4 months old.<br />
