Some of you might have followed my thread "there are some buns in the oven'.... where we set up the pup tank for that litter which have now gone to their new homes

I am leaving that thread for future updates on growth, morphing and development of that litter which we have decided to record as 'B' litter.
For future reference we have decided to record the litters in alphabetical order so we can keep record of who the parents were, what they produced and how the pups turn out.

Tank was my old 1.5m and we have kept it going as a grow out tank for new additions and to also ensure there is a fully cycled and mature tank for future litters
Tank was good for the three pups of the last litter but i had put away my 2.2m tank when I upgraded Polkadot's new home.
So... taking into consideration that as the girls get older, litters could increase in size, we decided to take down the 1.5m and set up my 2.2m instead which would give us more space, water volume and better filtration
@Cesar built an internal filter on the opposite side of the sump overflow to add to the filtration and the sump we running on it is 1.5m

For now, I have three new babies that im growing out in this tank.. a Black Diamond X Marble girl, a Black Diamond hybrid boy and a Galaxy girl.
Also have two Danoids, an Indo and an NTT and what i believe are two 4 stripped pictus catfish which Im growing out as well as, my Rainbows

Meantime.. we are very excited to say that litter "C" is on its way!!!
So a good thing we decided to do the upgrade
These are due around the 15th November
Mother is a Black Diamond X Marble and Dad a Mini Marble.

Some pictures of the tank and its present inhabitants

And now the exciting part about the future ... the 'C' litter that if all goes well, is on its way..

Mommy... there is no movement yet but you can clearly see the two humps on her bum area

Very nice -- I like the vision... alphabet means 23 letters to go before things get complicated.

Love the tank and the pics ...

    Thanks Ferdie,

This is how we kept/keep records of 4 legged puppy registrations.. yeah.. got complicated when you went around the alphabet two or three times and you started running out of names
But I like to keep records and for now I thought the 23 will last us a while!!

that is awesome, I think I might be taking you up on that ..

I was actually going to ask.. dont they finish all the food before it hits bottom?
I am struggling with that in my tank. food never reaches half way no matter how much i put in..
im having to throw in extra bottom feeder pellets for the corries, even some of those get eaten up...

The Rams take a bit of a knock.. but i hand feed them bloodworms once a week.

Hahaha ok... temptation getting to you?

Are you referring to the Rainbows when you ask if they finish the food before it reaches the bottom?
If so, yes.. whatever I put in for the Rainbows is gone before it gets to the bottom
Then I put in pieces of mussel.. shrimp or fish for the rays at the bottom and the Rainbows will go and eat up any little crumbs from the rays chewing their food

I do throw in an algae wafer or two for the little bristlenose and a few pellets for the two cats but they also munching up fish with the rays which is nice as the clean up the bottom of the tanks beautifully

    @MariaS
Your Ray setup is inspirational as always.

I guess as you get on with your litter numbering, you could always start with AA, AB etc.

Get a pvc pipe and when you feed put food in it and allow the food to sink down (like a reverse straw) for the bottom feeders. Another option is to feed the corys after lights out - they are more active at night anyway

I do want a few more Rainbows but its not easy to find them at that size to be safe with the size pups that are in there now
When the new litter is born ( if all goes well) the 2 bigger pups that are there now (black diamond X marble girl and the Black Diamond boy) will be going to my big tank with Polkadot
then I can get some more Rainbows as they will be safe with the new born pups

Hahha . you will just have to keep a small planted tank so you can still have your plants
