So.... the time was bound to come....

Flash.. we measured her at 50cm, out the tank about 3 weeks ago..
Polkadot... is probably measuring about 25cm...
Pickles my Flagtail is also about at least 20cm..
Clown loaches have grown quite a bit...
And my two little "black nights" 2 Henlei pups are doing very well so.... Time for a new home...

All going according to plan, we will start the new build tomorrow...
As with all big builds.. Im excited and nervous..

Im going 2.6m... by 1m wide (need the width for Polkadot)

I am having two internal filters built in, one on each side which will take 10cm from each side of the tank and an overflow for the sump in the middle of the tank but at the back
This should give me some very nice filtration.

The sump will be 1.5m which is also a good size..

So.... if all goes according to plan.... will post some pictures tomorrow

Eish, that sump is bigger than my biggest tank.
Good luck with the build, and I'm looking forward to the progress.

Your build sounds awesome! What glass thickness are you going for? Also, will 10cm for the internal filters give you enough room to work in and enough width for big pumps? I realise that it is around 70 litres in volume each side... I am talking about physical space in 10cm over a depth of 70cm....

    Thanks...

@Pezulu... I need the big sump with the three rays and Flash... maybe for now i could go smaller but then in a years time when the rays are bigger i would probably need to upgrade it so.. might as well do it now and spend the money once and know im safe for long time

    Thanks @DarylA ...
Im going 30mm base with floating base
12mm Glass with euro bracing and center and side braces
Also bracing right around the bottom as well as all the vertical corners

I think the 10 cm for the filters should be ok. Cesar has on the 3.6m tank also with 10cm and he managed to get i think 3500l pumps in a longer shape that fit perfectly.
He puts his media in bags so its easy to just pull out the bags when you clean
But i will double check on that when the guy comes tomorrow, i can still change it if i see its necessary before he glues the glass in

Hahhaaa Ferdie... You are wicked... eish.. you love to stir!!!

On a serious note.... I had no choice...

Was hoping to push it a bit longer but especially Polkadot really needs the extra space...

Thanks @Pierré Schoonraad ... the internal filters was actually started by Cesar in his big tanks
I was skeptical at the time but I was proven wrong.. they work like magic and his tanks are always crystal clear

Just a small update... We did start with the build as planned today and quite a bit was done as the filters etc. had been built already..

Unfortunately Cesar took all the pictures but, they worked until quite late and he hasnt downloaded them for me yet so will upload the pictures tomorrow

Looking awesome so far! Are the internals still 10cm? From the photos it looks like enough space....

Also, how have you made the internal panels black?

    Thanks @DarylA ...

We did change the intervals to 12cm... its better
I am not sure what he used, the panels were already done in black when he got here, they painted from the inside but i will ask him when he fetches the clamps next weekend

This is the filter panels on the inside of the tank

    023 (2)tank.JPG

And this is my overflow for the sump, it will be done the same color as the sides of the internal filters

    024tank.JPG

All the vertical corners have been braced with vertical bracing

    042 (3)tank.JPG

The base has an additional 12mm brace right around
