    Hey all.
My Aunt's house had an attempted burglary and had insurance replace some of their glass. A bonus out of this is that their two 2mX2m sliding doors weren't damaged but when insurance came around they decided to replace them.
My uncle asked to keep the sliding doors and wants to know if I can use them.

My question is could I make a 4ft tank out of this glass. It had been out of the sun for all it's life until being taken out.
I think it is either 6mm or 8mm. I will have to check.

    Thanks
    M

Just check if it's Laminated glass. I believe this isn't advisable to use... I may be wrong here.

If the galss is from a sliding door it has to be safety glass by law (just look for the stamp) , if it is you cant use it as it is impossible to cut and should you ever bump the tank it would shatter into millions of ppieces..not just crack !

Also bear in mind that glass "melts" if left in the sun , thus the bottom will be thicker than the top. Not worth the risk IMHO

So we got the glass, and it's not safety glass for some reason. It's 5mm thick so can I (my dad) make a tank that is 120cm LX40cm HX45cm W?
    Thanks

I would not if I were you? That sized tank I'd go no thinner than 6mm. I'm amazed its not either laminated or safety glass though if it was in a sliding door? Sounds dangerous or dodgy to me!

    Good luck!

Did you miss the part where it says Safety Glass?(All sliding doors IS safety glass)
You cannot use it for a tank at all.
    You cannot cut it.
It will shatter in a million pieces, but if you do not want to listen, well go ahead.
