Seems like my hands are in this one this morning - plants really are forgiving, need to fix a few issues in this tank.

I like your style of tanks. It does not look aquascaped, it looks very natural.

I like to try a diy light also. I must give this shot.

I have no idea why this tank is so snail prone ... kinda fishing them out when I get a gap.

Snails are the reason why I decided to move the cuttings of the buce a year or so to Lucky13 cause they got nailed in this tank ... many many months later and same same ...

Tank is doing doing fine at its own speed ... yeah I am terrible at making aquascapes - rather just let things grow as they want.

Maybe this will give help. Otherwise there is plenty of videos on YouTube about how to make a DIY snail trap.

Yeah - getting rid of them is not the question, but why they love this tank so much ... more than any other - it is just weird. One observation it is the tank with the least amount of flow these days.

Added some water ... nothing much going on in the tank at the moment - maybe time for grow lights again ?

This tank has had some issue - thin it might have been that the LED light just did not give me enough lux to the substrate. So might have to rethink this one a bit.

    P4250862.jpg

My working side view - thanks has looked way way better in past years.

    P4250868.jpg

Still having removed loads a few weeks back things are starting to look better from other sides.

    P4250874.jpg

Bubble bubble ... yes yes most tanks run airation 24x7 ;-)

    P4250881.jpg P4250882.jpg

Been doing polishing for about a week, maybe a bit more - big improvement.

Hmm found these at Game - switched every bulk in the house to them - some 7W others 10W - spotted 12's this morning ... why not try them in on a fishtank.

    P4250890.jpg

Hmm will leave them and see

    P4250888.jpg

Light shades are something I did many moons ago for Blackjack but moved on.

    P4250892.jpg

It is way less light - maybe that is what the tank needs .....

Looking forward to your impressions of these - it's always nice to find an alternative to dedicated aquarium lights.

The reflectors look almost like dog food bowls?

Want to boost the recovery in this tank ... since it had a heavy trim .... the slow growing plants are being out paced by the algae - aeration is not enough at this stage. Removed the HOB polisher, switched the air pump off. redirected the flow to reduce surface movement and added a CO2 bell ... somewhere on TASA a thread exists about when I last used them.

    P5011130.jpg P5011131.jpg P5011132.jpg P5011133.jpg P5011138.jpg

Since the clean-up new growth is seen but so is the increase in algae.

CO2 bells are the least efficient way of getting it into the water column - but it is the simplest.

Will probably change the fertz to KN03 + some Mg - maybe with a bit of calcium - will see what I have around.

    Expectation:

Yes less algae, two new leaves on the Buce then a flower or something like that.
