    I've never seen those in the flesh before - except maybe the eleotrid, but then again I'm unsure on the species that I saw.

    That's an awesome variety you have available to you! You're a stronger man than I, since I would have gone home with far too much, and with the emptiest wallet. Thinking of grabbing any of those Polypterus, @Reedfish?

    @SalmonAfrica

    I had already spent a fairly healthy sum on the Dat

    And I already have 2 Polys in my tank
    Might consider a weeksii, but have only seen really small ones.

    Nice looking panaque there. Out of interest what do they go for? Her you can sometimes get them at about 5cm for just under R500.

    Ones that size are expensive.
    I seem to recall this one being about £180 (R3,000 approx)
    You can get the smaller ones for about £40 (R700)

    That is a nice variety @Reedfish

    I cant recall seeing any of them around our area except for the Dats, Panaque and the Palmas
    I think the exotic stuff isnt cheap anywhere.... not just in SA..

    Water cow goby, that's pretty cool :)

    Polys! :D
    Laps are absolutely great lower jaws, and palmas are cool for smaller tanks :)

    It seems that wolf herring inhabits saltwater apparently

    @Reedfish was it labelled as wolf herring?

    Looks much more like a cynodont (characin) than a herring, but I'm struggling to see an adipose fin in the pic. Rhaphiodon, perhaps?

    @Pierré Schoonraad
    Does your Panaque absolutely destroy the wood in the tank?
    It's one of the thing that puts me off getting one.
    And also I have read they can cause problems with Rays

    @SalmonAfrica
    The label was as I said in my first post.

    She loves her wood. The normal spider wood roots is her first choice and then only the harder wood.I actually have plants in the tank with her and it is doing good.

    On the spiderwood yes as you can see on the foto's but the harder wood doesn't show any. This might be because she prefers the spiderwood even though I have seen here on the harder wood.20170912_201312.jpg 20170912_201321.jpg hing
