    Hi All,

My 10 year old wants a tropical tank in his room, which means he can get a 2ft tank...

Is this something I should consider? Also, if it's a yes, what mix of colourful fish can you guys recommend?

    All thoughts and suggestions welcome!

Unless your 10 year old lives in "the cupboard under the stairs" and a 1 footer is the only tank you can fit into the availible space - rather buy him a 2foot tank or bigger... Larger aquariums are more stable when it comes to water parameters...(and young kids zealously overfeeding)

As for stocking it,some brightly coloured Swords/Platies.....some Neon Tetras... a Guppy or 3...

I also agree with @azurekoi. More water, more stable.
Also stick to swords, platies, guppies etc.
This hobby is very educational, as your son can use all the school-subjects in practice...

Flourescent Danios even, for some colourful hardy species, though I don't know if your son will like bright pink :D
