Wanted: Altum angelfish

Does anyone have or know where to get a pair?

Imports coming in as it’s season your best bet is to import a box or two, They’re between R300 - R800 size depending, box count 16-25 and hope for the best to my knowledge otherwise getting a proven pair in this country is going to be more expensive than a Asian Arowana.

AFAIK there are very few successful aquarium breeding of Altums, so most Altums will be wild-caught.

Of course, there are lots of people selling P. scalare as Altums but they normally aren't proper P. altum.

Just my 2c.

 

I should have been more clear the buying of 25 which are wild caught and holding thumbs for at least having enough survive to get a pair. Then just hope for the best outcome.

If youre trying to breed them to make some money off them ... good luck there is a reason there aren't any big breeders.

More money for fish there XD. South Africans dont want to pay 200/300 for an F1 baby angel fish let alone 500 for an WC that might die.

 

Infact. The guys from India brought them there at next to nothing and got them to breed here. Something about the water in Dubai gets angels and discus breeding like crazy year round. So since supply grew so greatly demand started to fall so you'll get them for around R100 a piece at juvenile sizes
