Apple Snails always lay their eggs ABOVE the water line and the clutch takes about two to three weeks to hatch. Unless you are going to be able to deal with hundred of little snails in your tank without the other fish eating them then it could become a problem. Once they start laying, from my experience, they carry on and lay about four to five clutches in a very short space of time and this could lead to around 400 - 500 baby snails. Gets quite hectic after a while. choice is yours. Hope this helps or confuses you. Again the choice is yours.

Yes, I have had some degree of breeding the Apple Snail and would just like to caution our friends that it can and does sometimes becoame a small problem. First of all they ALWAYS lay their eggs above the water line. This sometimes leads to the silly little things falling out of the tank at night as this is when they lay the eggs. Now, you have the choice of letting the eggs hatch in your display tank or moving them to a hatching tank. Some fish in display tanks eat them as soon as they hatch, which is in two to three weeks and minute they are. Once a snail starts laying eggs she usually lays about three to four clutches in a very short space of time which results in hundreds of little snails. If you think you can handle this and are prepared for some serious PT. then the choice is yours

If the eggs are submersed in water the babies will drown

@ Donny: Make a cucumber and carrot sosatie and leave that in the tank for them. They would love you for it.

It is also a good way if you want to get them out the tank :blink1:
