Just a question to you all, will assassin snails eat my shrimp? Got a snail problem so would the be the most eco friendly way of getting rid of them?

Assassins for sure. Might take a little longer to get rid of the problem, but worth it. They will only eat dead shrimp, and are completely shrimp safe.

They will eat anything left over in the tank, preferably it should contain some protein. Like any uneaten fish flakes or pellets. I give mine a tiny piece of raw hake once in a while as a treat, and they love it.

Awesome thanks for the info. Just one last question, are you not just replacing one type of snail pest with another type of snail or do they not breed as prolifically as the normal plant eating snails?

They don't breed like the plant eating snails. You need a male and a female for assassin snails to breed

Assassin snails are not hermaphroditic like other snails.
You need a male and female for them to be able to reproduce.
They also breed much slower than other snail types.
Eggs are lain on driftwood, the roots and stems of slow growing plants like Anubias.
The eggs resemble small square grains of sugar.

Assassin snails are carnivorous and scavengers.
They prey primarily on other snails (if available), frozen bloodworm, Aretmia, left over fish food and any dead fish or shrimp they can find.

Assassin snails are a benefit to any tank.

There are cheaper snails to feed to loaches.

I don't want to feed them to the loach, just wanted to know if they could live together in the same tank

Clown Loaches will eat any snails that they can get out of their shells, including Assassins and Nerites.
