    @MariaS,

    Thanks.

    They seem to be doing well.
    The parents, especially the father is looking after them.
    There are 5 fry.

    Meant time I went to the lfs this morning. Wanted another pair of Cyps to up the numbers.....And while I was there, got a few Neo mustax. There is a bit of agro on the tank at the moment. But am sure it will settle down soon.
    And got a few more plants while I was there.

    The fry will probally fair pretty well. They Stay close to their shells and shoot back in at and sign of danger. Your calvus will not be fast enough. Great looking tank, very rare to see plants with tangs too. I keep all mine tangs in more of a biotope which you would find in the lake. With regards to the Leps you should keep a school of no less than 10 fish, they feel more secure in numbers and display far better!

    Good luck

    It's a community tank.
    So I am not expecting much fry long term. If the odd one here and there survives, great. If not, too bad. In fact I would rather not be over run by a particular species.
    In fact, I had Neo brichardii briefly in the beginning, but took them back to the lfs. Their breeding habits are interesting, but I didn't want hundreds of them after a few months.

    I did not want the typical Tang biotype / rock setup.
    So thought I would try something different.

    The Leps were quite expensive.
    So I went with 5 initially.
    And then added another 2 yesterday.
    They have spawned in a group of 5 (though nothing came of those) so they must be happy.

    Thanks

    Of the 6 or so I originally counted, there seems to be 2 remaining.

    But the pair at the other end of the tank now also has a brood.

    Yes, it is interesting to watch

    I went to the lfs yesterday to get a few bits before lockdown 2.
    Didn't need to rush there as they told me they would still be open for dry goods - food, equipment etc.
    But I did get a few more Anubias

    This Microsorum has a lot of black patches and dead leaves.

    I haven’t had roaring success with java fern in the low tech that I do and have stopped seeing it as an easy category plant. Bolbitis, anubias etc grow much better for me.

    Trim away the dodgy leaves and hopefully new growth would be adapted to your water. Java fern is apparently a potassium hog. Also a slow grower so takes forever to recover without CO2.

    Sorry can’t help more, have had moderate success myself in most tanks. But have many other plants that do well in my water so not buying more java fern myself... I know it grows well for some others.

    Edit: don’t think the light is the issue

    I received this book as a bday present last week
    (Had to nudge the SO in the right direction ;) )

    It wasn’t cheap. But well worth it for anyone interested in Tangs

    Forgot to reply to this :oops:

    @A new day

    So far, Anubias is doing the best.
    So maybe I should stick to various forms of that???
