    Hi everyone

This is a topic that's constantly coming up when new tanks are started and members pick up problems and lose fish

Sometimes we battle to explain the Nitrogen cycle and the mechanics of cycling
You get posts where people say : but my water is fine, no ammonia

I watched this video by Kevin of Stingray Biology and i think its one of the best, simple to understand explanations of cycling a tank
Hope you enjoy it and it throws some light into the Nitrogen cycle to some of our newer members

    Its a pleasure

    Listen to Kevin carefully

He obviously cant do a fish that size that produces 10 times the bioload of another fish the same size, without filter and media however, a bunch of guppies which produce minimal bioload, you will find bacteria will grow on the sides of the pond/tub which together with plants and waterchanges can sustain the guppies
Also keep in mind that some fish are hardier than others
You will probably find that most of the other tropical fish wont survive the tub with no filter method as the bioload they produce cant be dealt with by the amount of bacteria growing on the sides of the tub

I think Kevin explains the cycle in a plain simple way that is easy to understand
Ask away if it doesnt make sense
