Howsit Jordan. In Cape town here is one or 2 breeders. As you whould know by now that breeding Zaire frontosa involves a lot of patience as they dont breed successfully all the time. hence theres always buyers on a waiting list. Maybe with the F1 in a few years time we will have better results with breeding numbers. I know that in KZN there might be a few who breeds Zaire also. Lets hope they respond to you.

Wild caught is another option. If i have a choice between 10 F1 and a trio of wild caught i will take the wild caught.

@Ebrahim - Which variants do you consider to be true Blue Zaires variants?

All variants from (preferably the south) of Congo (Zaire) side of the lake.

Cool! I would have thought only Moba, Kitumba and Kapampa should be considered Blue Zaire, although I know that most Congo variants are now given this name. I'm probably wrong here but I believe the name was first coined for those three variants when they were imported into America some years ago.

Do you think that the meaning of Blue Zaire has been stretched over time?
Possibly because new blue Frontosa variants were discovered in Congo after the original Blue Zaire became popular?

Never phased me much as I try work with accurate variant information, where one of three is just as wrong as one of ten.

So you're saying all Cyphos collected on Congo side roughly between Cape Tembwe and Moba, maybe a little further South?

these are all collection points. in the past we had only a few collection points. nowadays new collection points are discovered hence new variants. some could be as close as a 100m from each other, i dont know. but what it all boiles down to is MARKETING. various pricing are charged according to variant type. i must also say there is very close differences between these variants but for the layman it all looks the same as long as its blue. thats why it is very importants to know what variant you have and to be honest about it when you sell it.
