Designerguppy Challenge 2: The Exceptables

OK so there is something special about a tank full of guppies that look the same but one thing that makes guppies special is there variety. This one is aimed at just that.

Setup: Rube dub dub it will be in a tub.

Breeding stock:

Male:
Description: Its the yellow snakeskin not the big blue one. Nice colors and tail size
What you like about it: Its iridescence and full body pattern.
Where it came from: Lennard

Female 1:

Description:Blue female with enormous tail.
What you like about it: One of the females with the biggest tails I have ever come across.
Where it came from: Brits LPS

Goals: Well the goal is to breed random good looking guppies. I started with these two and will keep to the rules that all future crosses will be descendant of these two in some way.
I will only add guppies to this breeding program that I deem worthy, ones from the LPS,friends, stolen or legally acquired . I will only breed offspring that I also deem worthy.

 

@Vis I love the female! Is she a big girl?

 

From the original cross I got two males and 2 females. Something went wrong with the batch and most died.

I must admit though that I don't really like the two males that much.
Will post some pics soon.

So crossed the female with two of the blue males I bred before.

Got about 10 fry and weird enough a blonde one.
The female was at @WeirdSteam when she gave birth, maybe one of his females had one blonde baby They do look all the same age though.

 

Must all be her fry she was alone in the tub giving birth. The other females was only moved into her tub a day later. After removing the fry.

They are growing quite fast so very curious how they will turn out.

 

Yup i know. The one fry from the blues 1st drop starting to show some color. Hope these turn out nice.

Ok so it seems like its not my year. We went away for a week and I asked somebody to look after my fish.
When we came back I found all my breeding stock dead, including fry.

Yeah, to be honest I think I am done with fish keeping for now. Been a few good years but my attention needs to go somewhere else.

 

Will be sad to loose you to this hobby. Maybe just take a break for a while. I did it for more than a year and it helped

Did take a break before and revived every thing but this time I think its time to move on for good. Will open a for sale thread soon.

Thanks, was pondering my fish keeping while being away and I guess this was the universe way of giving me an answer.

 

Ja sometimes, however cruel it might be, life pushes you in a direction. Strongs for the big desission that you need to make. Can't think it will be easy.

Funny this 2017 has more than just you thinking about call it game! @Vis

Maybe in 10 years time we will see you back in the game, have good one and shot for helping the hobby grow in SA.

I did the same thing for a couple of years before coming back with a vengeance and got 3 tanks, now using only 2.

I normally overdo something, bit OC, and there are few other things that need my attention more at this stage.
So probably more of a life change desicion then hobby related.

Not sure why they died because the Tigers I left in the house with no light or food was perfectly fine when we returned.
I do suspect the person feeding them had something on his hands that might have been the cause without him knowing it.
