Ok, since I'm building new tanks, thought that I should revise my inline reactor.

I hate having equipment in the tank. So this will de-clutter the tank.

This is my current DIY reactor.

Planning on a combo of a inline reactor and heater. I got the idea from people that made DIY canister filters using airtight plastic containers.

Found some compression fittings to hold the heater, this will or should lock and seal like a bulkhead through the lid of the container.

Still trying to find the right container. Might have to get one online. The best type I have found is a pasta container.

The plumbing will be similar to the cerge reactor. Here is a DIY cerges reactor for your reference.

    Here is the concept.

Red is the heater, green the CO2 with diffuser.

Will be using a Lock&lock container, like this one below. Ordered from Takealot. Dimensions are 150 x 150 x 250mm. They are supposedly air and water tight, but I'm not sure if it will be when under pressure. It will also add additional 4 lts of water volume, which is an additional bonus.

Hopefully it will work, will have to try and see.

Got the containers today. Test fitted the heater and looks like it might work. Just have to figure out how to purge the air from the heater chamber. No leaks so far.

Will be getting the bulkheads for the inlet and outlet tomorrow. Still have to figure out how to seal the co2 inlet though.

The fittings that I used are.
    1 x 20mm bulkhead = R45
    1 x union = R35
    1 x straight threaded pvc connector = R5
    1 x threaded 90 degree elbow connector = R5
    1 x straight pipe connector = R12
    1 x 20cm 20mm dia pipe = R5
    1 x 32mm dia compression connector = R30
    4 x rubber washers =R40
    1 x 4lt lock&lock clear container (150x150x230) = R80
1 x Stainless steel one way valve for co2 = already had it
    Total cost about R257

Hm Interesting, Think i must look into something like that for my 300W heaters and defuser. Do you keep it below your tank or next to it, just wonder about the pressure as i got a 600l tank and it will stand 1m below water level.
