Dovii female tank

Finally got my large Dovii female
“Werner” into a her own tank, she has been living in flow bins, and sumps for last few months since my workshop tank cracked.
she is rather secretive so pics are crap but hopefully with time she will be more confident and I will get some better pics.

 

She is gorgeous @top dog
I'm sure she will be so happy it wont take long to come out her shell!!

Congrats!!!!!! where on earth did you find a Dovii? I'm having a hard time finding anything i want

 

did a import in 2010
had a few spawns i raised up, where she comes from
have kept track of the ones i sold and bought a few fry here and there to try always have a pair.
sadly i only know of 1 male from left in nelspruit, 2 females i have and a monster female at PTA zoo

hopefully pet shops do not bring in baby dovii, as 99.9% of people can not keep them well and definitely do not have the space

 

Nice, Im am strongly thinking of doing my own import. Yeah, I know very well Dovii is not for everyone and most do not have space for them. to me, it is very similar to pet shops selling iridescent sharks. they grow fast and outgrow most tanks within a couple of months. not sure why they don't inform people before buying it. I cannot find what i want and even at wazeers the fish supposedly a trimac (3 spot cichlid) did not look anything like a trimac.

 

If everything works out I will be doing import June next year
Either with tangled up in cichlids or cichlids of America’s depends on stock

 

Yeah I'm busy talking to cichlids of Americas. I also have another friend who is interested in fish so we will club in together. It's $1k worth of stock minimum so it's quite a bit. the more we are the more cost-effective it is for everyone.

Funny though they treat Dovii like this, but not red tail cats, Oscars, Jaguars, etc.

 

Dovii have the luck of being very plain and boring as youngsters
Silver gray with a black stripe, guess local pet shops could not sell them
