    Hi everyone,

So this morning I found 4 Emerald Rasbora eggs - moved them to a moss tank. Really hoping for more and that I can raise the fry. Been searching for these guys forever. I managed to get 8 about 2 or 3 months back but i am down to just 2 currently. I actually gave up on them but decided I had to give it one last try.

Will post a pic of an egg tonight. Just hope they are fertile.

Still no fry that I can see but its still too early. I think another 3 or 4 days until the possibility of free swimmers. I found another 4 eggs this evening which I moved to the hatching tank

Congrats @TheGrissom, so about 10 days for them to pop? If they anything like rainbows you will have a higher count from here on.

Something like that yes. I dont think I will get as many as rainbows - smaller fish, closer to my celestials. If I go by my cpds then somewhere between 3 and 10 usually

Time for an update - there are lots of fry. Counted this morning and it was 16. looks like a whole lot hatched yesterday. Looking forward to trying to raise as many as possible to adulthood

Nice!!! how will you be handling the different sizes from batches? or do you think they are no threat to each other?

I have them in 2 different tanks. The ones of about 2 weeks are much larger than the newly hatched ones. I counted 11 in their tank yesterday. Just before I fed the newly hatched ones tonight I counted 18. I am not sure how many of these will survive though as they dont have much moss in their tank but there is lots of algal growth on the glass so there will be plenty of micro organisms. There is a handful of moss but the newly hatched fry are all in the back corner just below the surface so it isnt adding much value in my opinion.

Time for an update: Not going as well as I had hoped. Out of 16 fry in the one tank only 1 survived. I still have it all on its own. My other tank had 18 eggs in it - I moved 6 this weekend to their display tank. This morning when I was feeding my fish I noticed a dead fish in the tank that I had moved them from - stuck in the java moss. Upon searching the moss I found another 4. It seems these guys buried themselves in the moss to escape me and then got stuck there and died. I am so annoyed at myself. I did check the moss but its a whole tankful and I must have missed 5 fish. On the up side I managed to get 11 out of 18 to a decent size before I killed 5 of them. So in total I have now got 8 Emerald Rasbora - 7 youngsters and 1 adult. Will try spawning them in a few months once the youngsters have matured. In future I will plant the moss on a piece of wood and keep it manageable so it doesn't form a tight ball and become a death trap for the fish.

So update on this - I have spawned again. Across 3 tanks I count about 30 in total. They are only about a week old and have only just gone free swimming. They are on one water system so in a about a week I am planning on moving them all to one tank and then spawning the adults in the 2 fry free tanks.

Had some time and saw that the fry are all free swimming so I moved them all into one tank - 29 that I moved and however many were in the tank that I moved them into. If I guess I would say there are between 40 and 50 in total. Will see how many survive to 3 months old. I will keep 25 (if that many survive) along with my 4 remaining adult fish. Now I am going to have a look each day for fry that I may have missed. If I find none for a few consecutive days I will move adult fish back into those tanks to spawn again.
