Hi @Ammar. Awesome male you have there. I have boesimani fry at the moment. About 7 months old and 5/6 cm. Way too small to put in with the big guy except if your willing to wait.

Thanks Pierre, i have about 6 females that are with him at the moment and no other male can go near them.. my problem is the females have very little to no color on them, i was hoping I could find a female with slightly better color, to give off perfect offspring. i know the females dont color much but at least a hint of orange would be nice.

A little yellow will help although I have seen very few females that actually show more yellow, than maby a spot before the tail fin.

Ja i have a female with a slight yellow shine on the back, i was hoping there would be better quality.
ill see what i get out of this batch, my mops should have a pretty decent amount of eggs.

@pierreschoonraad I think we should do a breeding project together. the blue female looks amazing. paired with my male could bring some real good results.

Thanks man. The older they get the more fry they will produce. That pare is about 8 years old.

woaaaw!!! i have a long way to go then.

I think my male is pretty old, i'll have to check with @Gamma if he had it as a fry or bought it. but my females I would say are around 2 to 3 maybe a bit less

I have a bunch of fry i would say they are about 7 or 8 months old, but still tiny, i started now feeding mosquito larvae every second day and I can already see the difference in growth.

quick update, i removed the mops and moss patch from the main tank into a side tank, its only been 2 days, I added a few shrimp, from past experience I found the combination of egg and shrimp works great.
checked last night an i have between 20 and 40 swimmers in the tank, those must have been old eggs that hatched. im expecting many more from sundays session, a lot of breeding happened.
will post proper pics as soon as the camera is able to catch anything. currently cant see much.

Well done @Ammar. The crap is thinking they grow fast. Still wondering why I picked Rainbows to breed.

Lol, its worth it in the end, especially if you get good quality stock.
so im gonna try play around with feeding and see what happens.
hi protein powder for now untill they are big enough to eat live mosquito larvae.

That will be good for them. My last batch I used to change about 5L of water every second day with green water for the first 2 weeks and only then started feeding them powdered pellets. Growth and survival rate looks better than the previous batches.

Only damn problem with the boesimani is they display awesome colors at the moment, eventhough they are only 5cm. When I take them to the lfs they loose almost all their color due to normal stress in the tanks.

ahh crap, thats not good, but they should get their color back once they settle?

my small males are showing very good orange already at about 3 to 4 cms

im not gonna be selling yet, i first want to fill my 500L with the best males and then start thinking of selling.

Unfortunately they don't. With all the movement and catching around them they never realy settle.

At the moment I'm actually over stocking my 4ft by keeping good looking fish back. I already have my eye on 2 nice females
