Long story, but I was given/rescued this Fire Eel

Gravel not ideal substrate, but the gravel is small and rounded.

    Had it since the weekend
Tried target feeding with tweezers, but as yet, it's not eating.

    Its gorgeous @Reedfish
One of the fishes i have always admired

I had one a good couple of years ago but she outgrew my tank..
They stunning as their colours get even brighter

They are a bit of a pain to get to eat but it should come round eventually
A good start to tempt them is some earthworms..

    Thanks

I have ordered a tub of earthworms. Should be with me tomorrow.
So hopefully I will get it eating soon.

Try and get it hand feeding, should help keeping it fed in busier tank :)

My knife fish have oddly gone off of earthworms recently

I had some many years ago. They lived in the under gravel (came in and out through the air lift tubes). I would switch the air off and hold earthworms at the end. They would come up through the tube, take the earthworm from my fingers and go back down. Until they got too big to go through the tubes and had to find another hide out

Earthworms should do the trick to get them to eat. Mine were not interested in anything else.

I think that's part of the problem.
My tank is quite busy, and it's new and timid.

Will target feed with earthworms and see what happens.

Most people I see keep them in a smaller quarantine tank to get them eating and all first. They are awesome when they grow bold :)

I grow my own earthworms in tubs which i feed the off cuts and peels from cleaning my vegies which we also grow in our vegie patch so no fertilizers or pesticides
