Wow, 800l - and looks like a well put together setup. Did Graham (Gapedi Tanks) do it custom for you?

I wrap black electrical insulation tape along the edges of the styrofoam when having to use it, particularly when its been neatly cut. Cleans up a tank visually and isn't affected by water running onto it occasionally.
Being so thick it may not work on that setup but worth a try? Painting it poses problems I've found.

    S. Africans seem to be the only people in the world using styrofoam bases in the hobby, lol. All plastic framework overseas.
Best local solution I've found is having black foam CNC cut to size - Industrial Foam & Rubber in CT can have that done for those interested. Spec is called HD120 Hydro-jointfiller.

I bought the sump from Graham, but I got the tank at a great deal from someone who used it as a marine setup.

Thanks for the great tip. The tank weighs a ton so the polystyrene is there to stay haha

Stunning plant selection! They all seem it very good condition too. Where did you order from?

What is the one on the left midground that kind of looks like bolbitis but not quite?

Thank you, I ordered from Plantae, good prices and quality plants.

    You correct, it is Bolbitus.

    Please excuse the bad photo.

Setup done. Unfortunately the water is cloudy and some of the wood isn't completely sinking so I had to put rocks on them.

The heater, external filter and thermometer will also eventually be remove.

    My current plant stocklist:
    Bolbitus heudelotii
    Bucephalandra sp. ‘Lamandau Mini Red’
    Bucephalandra sp. ‘Theia’
    Cryptocoryne costata
    Cryptocoryne parva
    Cryptocoryne petchii ‘Pink’
    Cryptocoryne “Purpurea”
    Cryptocoryne ‘Rubella’
    Cryptocoryne sp. ‘Brown’
    Cryptocoryne walkeri ‘Legroi’
    Cryptocoryne wendtii ‘Brown’
    Cryptocoryne x willisii ‘Lucens’
    Echinodorus ‘Hadi Red Pearl’
    Echinodorus purpurea
    Echinodorus ‘Rubin’
    Lagenandra meeboldii ‘Red’
    Nymphaea zenkeri ‘Red’
    Christmas Moss

    In the sump:
    Hygrophila corymbosa ‘Siamensis’
    Hygrophila corymbosa ‘Parvifolia Green’
    Hygrophila lancea
    Anubias
    Java Fern
(Planning on adding three more fast growing stem plants to combat algae)

Nice! Cool hardscape to work with as a foundation - keen to see it evolve.
Assume you took some media from your last tank to kickstart the cycle? Look forward to seeing some fish in there

Yes, that's why the external filter is there for now.
