thanks @AmithS, appreciate the comment - it is a year old, I learned so much doing this tank. The actual forest was the goal.

Being stuck in a downpour during a solo hike in Pai Thailand (close to where those kids got trapped) and everything was green and wet ... I now get lost in the result ( when I clean the glass ).

End of May 2018 above - then beginning June 2018 got to start the scape.

Result is way better than what I expected. This was the turning point

So this is sort of like a terrarium aquarium hybrid kind of thing. Very very interesting. I like the idea very much.

How much intervention and maitenance did this require in a year comparable to a high tec planted tank?

After the June 2018 modeling, very little other than me trying to add different plants. Something like 3 water changes / top-ups - two canister filter cleans and dry fertz when I do the rest. Glass well you can see when I have posted pics that is typically when something happened in the tank.

I suppose one could have done more manicure work on the plants - but like all my tanks if I have met it 1/2 way and planted it then the rest is up to the plant to thrive.

It works well when you can it in high tanks ... 2/5 ratio of water to air seems to be attractive to my eye.
