New to the hobby, and this was my first experience buying canister filters.
Just bought an Aquael Midikani Canister Filter, brand new.
It is 1 day old, being used for one night only and in excellent, excellent condition.
Unfortunately for my 70L it's to strong, blowing my fish and plants all over the show with about ~650-800 L/H.

Getting a larger tank is out of the question, nevertheless, a great filter for a great price.
So for now, I'm guna take the knock and learn a little more about the hobby and filters (this was my first time buying a canister filter).

    Here are the details:
Amazon.com : Cobalt Aquatics EXT Canister Aquarium Filter : Pet Supplies

    Aquael - MIDIKANI 800

PM me for any more details. Or pictures.
Got the box and almost everything is still in packets. ROFL
    Thanks guys.

If you bought it one day ago sure you can return it and get a refund?

I purchased it from a company in Cape town, pet habitat. He said they don't take things back, much to my disdain, but will try sell it to a distributor. Quite bad if you ask me. Nevertheless, have the invoice for proof.

According to the consumer protection act they have to take it back - if they like it or not.
You don't even have to give an explanation why you wanna return it.

I wouldn't take back a filter that has been used.

Hahaha, yeah, in all fairness, I should have done more research. I can't blame the fish store from which I purchased the filter.
It really is a strange thing to have "hands on" experience with something. Opposed to none. Apart from the cost, it was a great lesson.
I have never even laid hands on a canister filter. Now that I have, I have a completely new perspective on them and a better comprehension of
water filtration aspects - at work. Not just numbers.
But the point is valid - that flogging style is all to common.

Ok,i need to apologise if i passed on incorrect information.
Someone told me that under the new CPA you can return within 5 days,no questions asked.

If you told the salesman the size of your tank and he recommended that filter, then you still have the right to return it under point 3"goods do not meet particular purpose".

Could you not get a ball valve and just slow down the flow?

"The throughput capacity of the MIDIKANI 800 filter can be adjusted by turning the control unit by up to 90 degrees. When the control valve is turned clockwise by 90 degrees, the water flow is cut off and the unit can be safely removed from the filter housing without disconnecting the pump from the mains, e.g. in order to clean the inside of the filter (the so called by-pass function)."

    Quoted from the website.

Means u should be able to adjust the flow
    Don't sell it.

    Hey Dave.

Put it in the box and put the box in the garage. You will use it when you get a bigger tank...hehehe. Once the bug bites...

i think by restricting the water flow you will put unnecesary stress on the power head and impeller...
