    Hi
I got some Tiger Barbs last month, some of them are the genetically modified ones with the jellyfish gene. I was hoping that some of you have these fish, and can share your experiences with them please?
What do they look like as adults?
Do they actually glow under black light?
    How big do they get?
    TIA

    I've been quite busy, actually!
I got back into fish in 2016, went to Lesotho to set up some large display aquaria at a friend's guesthouse. 2018 was breeding goldish in ponds, 2019 built ponds, bred koi, tilapia and guppies. Got a license for the Oreochromis breeding project, bred thousands of red ones
Right now I'm just dabbling with guppies and a few other fish, don't really have enough time for any large projects this year as I'm launching 2 products for the health industry.

Haven't kept the barbs, but I have a few of the Danios and they do actually glow! I don't have a black light on my tank though sadly, tempted to try and hook on up at some point. Other than that, they seem to follow the normal pattern of growth and all that that the standard variants would (again, based on the Danios..)

Good to see you around again.

Tbh, the glofish aren't really my sort of thing.
And they are banned here in the UK

To be honest, I got them accidentally when I broke up with my GF last year... the tank and fish but it was a great excuse to keep the tank haha. One thing I have found is that the Glofish are a little more playful compared to my standard Danios, not sure if that is the fish themselves or the difference between them.

With regards to the ban, I am actually quite surprised that they aren't banned here but I suppose its just one of those things.

Those glo-barbs, when I saw them (once only) were R100 each!
I recently saw some guys on Reddit adjusting their light spectrums toward red, making their best cherry shrimp appear almost neon as well.

Saw these earlier in the week.
    The price is R125 each.

My experience with Tiger Barbs was reasonably short, right in the beginning when I knew even less than I do now.
Barbs are nippers, and keeping them with other fish can be a bit of a gamble.
I found that out the hard way when I put them in a tank with a male Betta, as well as some guppies.
The Betta died about a week after I introduced it to the community tank, due to not having fins left, and the male Guppies didn't last much longer.

Those dont look like barbs to me - they look like tetras. But the one that catches my eye is the rosy tetra just left of the sticker. Really beautiful fish.

Sorry Pezulu - I just reread your post and see you were not referring to barbs at all but rather the fluorescent fish. My apologies

I'll post some videos and pics, I don't have much since I lost the phone on which most of the pics were... but I have some surviving images.
I've always loved tiger barbs, but or some reason I haven't kept them long enough to reach full size, maybe this time I will.

Would love to see some videos!

    @lep2soma ,

I have found the easiest way to post videos is to upload to youtube and then share the link

Not sure if others have an easier way

From what I gather... don't use a black light on its own, you may cause harm to fish and plants. If you do hook one up, make sure to connect it with your leds/fluorescent's, so that it can't be left on alone by mistake, just to be on the safe side.
