    The male:

    Description:
Red half black with red color divided by dark blue/black. Body color showing the normal half black trait. Slightly different is the yellow to the front of the body and the dorsal. The dorsal is also showing my "own" Batwing shape I am getting on a lot of the red half black breeding.
What you like about it: I like the split color of the tail and the long dorsal on the fish
Where it came from: Bred from my own red half black line.
What traits would you like to breed forward: Split tail color and dorsal shape and size.

Goals: Intensify the split in color in the tail, brighten the yellow in the dorsal and front of the body and better the Batwing shape of the dorsal.

    Inspiration: Curiousness and having fun!

    The female:

Description: Very iridescent jumbo size female - she is still very young.
What you like about it: Blue and orange/yellow.
Where it came from: The mother looked just like this female and the father is a red half black.
What traits would you like to breed forward: Brightness of the tail and iridescence of the dorsal and other fins.

I have placed the two fish in a plastic basin outside in my grow out area. It is warm enough now to keep them outside. Will remove any fry for the next 3 weeks.

(Lots going on with this two fish - the results are going to be....fun!)

Those tails could look very nice if refined a little.

Saw a half black male in my NE of the shops Friday with something very close to this. Looked quite nice.

Those are stunning fish. I would select offspring that show colour in the dorsal fin before dorsal shape. Those are almost pose winners already!

About 30 fry from the first batch - going to be a long wait before the true colors show.

Yip bit if a wait to start seeing things but once they start it is very exciting to see the colors and patterns.

The container spilled over and all the fry escaped and died! Got some new fry this morning.

I do believe the gene for this two colored tail is carried by the red half blacks and it did come forward in the snakeskin breeding:

@lennard, must this also be moved to the challenge 2 forum?
