Apparently the new male has to inseminate the female within 24 hours after her last drop.

took some pics of of the now 2 week old fry from these parents:

Random selection of fry, as theyre too small to select any features:

This one shows the mother's yellow tail developing.

Looks like the father's endler genes are still showing?

Previously unseen tail shape. Looks like there may be some surprises on the way in this batch.

Half the fun is seeing what comes out of the first few batches.

Thanks @Linxie. He's a posthumous daddy:). Glad that he managed to father at least this batch. I suspect that I'll see more of his work pop up with this lady:

Good thing, as the my second and last full black male just died. They are a seriously weak strain. Both of the full black females are fine though... Hopefully he managed to knock at least one up.

Sorry to hear that :( Possibly due to the inbreeding to achieve that strain.
    Holding thumbs for you :)

I've given up with full black males. I could go and buy yet another one, but I'm not a gambler by nature, so will rather change my strategy to one of pot-luck-breeding :). I found another male for my "sunset lady" and for a non pregnant full black lady. iPhone pics..

    getting some fin over:)

She's still carrying the second drop of the posthumous male, but the new guy is frisky and will get his wicked way with her the second she drops.

Nice indeed. Why did you not choose the best looking males from the first batch and cross them to there sisters. That can still reserve some if the original flyers genes and you can continue with that line.

They're still growing out. I'll see how they look and will definitely continue that line. I'm hoping that some of the new males have a larger tail.

So these two obviously signed up for the fertility package... So far I've only seen drops of 10-35. Then I crossed the 2 above, with the result that the poor female looked as if she would explode. I thought there was something seriously wrong with her, and feared the worst. Came home to this a couple of days ago....

    image.jpg
I tried to count without much success... Well over 120 though. Didn't even know guppies did that.

I thought around 25 was kind of their normal batches but that is crazy.

I know.. I'll try to get an accurate count this weekend. I took a pic of her a couple of days before her big drop with my camera.. Will post it at some point too. She has been almost as big as she was this time with a previous drop, but only produced about 30, much bigger fry. I assume there were just too many for her to carry to full term?

That is amazing! The most I got from one female is a few days ago, but only 35.

Guppies are too prolific - where is one going with all the fry?

What are you going to look for with culling/selection process?

Well breeding wise that female is a winner. Got 8 on my first drop.

I've been doing some reading and some claim as many as 250 in one drop. Personally I can't see how that's possible, but then again, I wouldn't have said that 120 is possible before I saw it for myself.
@lennard, not sure what I'm looking for in this new pairing. Gonna see what genes carry over and plan from there. I have 2 drops from this female with the endler looking male. Once all of these are coloring up, I'll choose the exact course to follow. It sounds cruel, but my Malawis are enjoying the culls. It's nature's way I guess.

Here's that female a day or so before dropping the mother of all fry bombs. I've tried counting them, but they are amonst the plants and substrate now, so gave up..

It looks like she could have carried that amount of fry! She was enormous!

The parents below have produced the line that i will be trying to fix.

The male offspring are quite different, but i'll be trying to fix the first one by mating to his sisters and also back to his mother for good measure. She isn't carrying, so that works out well. his sisters are all identical looking, so will mate him to the 3 biggest.
