unclear of what you are trying to do for this strain? dont know if im missing something somewhere.?

what are your future plans? or are you still deciding on that?

I have no idea how guppy genetics work, but my plan is to get the line to breed true, similar to the male that you pointed to. Anything else would be too ambitious at this stage.

just go on google or so and see if you cant find anything on genes that might help you out.

also a little hard if you are unsure of what genes are in your guppy, some colors might only show when you breed mother to son or father to daughter or might only show up late in the generations, can be a hidden recessive gene thats only going to show when both your male and female carry it and they are bred together, even if they seem to be breeding true, lets say you breed the daughter back to the father you might get something hidden that doesnt show up when you breed mother and father.

this is also the reason why its so hard creating a pure strain from pet shop guppies, as they are all left to breed together and those genes are all just messed up. never know what is hidden.

but hope you get it right mate. strongs for your project

Thanks @MadHatter. Yeah, judging by all of the mixed results that I'm getting, I'm about to give up on this challenge. I am however going to cross the fish mentioned earlier. If the results are consistent, as in similar to the parents, then I'll continue by just selecting the best and breeding forward. If it's a mixed bag, then I'm gonna just keep the prettiest and not try to flog a dead horse.

@Broder it won't happen quick, you will need patience bud. Keep only the ones you real happy with and nothing else. Don't compromise.

I would cross this male back to the best looking sisters that might have the slightest patern like him.

I would not use the others and not cross back to the mother.

That is if you want more guppies like the father?

Yup @Vis... I want more like the father. The sisters look very different to him, but they're all similar, which is a good sign I suppose. Noted then... Won't cross back to the mother.. Thanks
