Setup 01: 2ft with HMF and Hydroton substrate. LED Strip for light plants TBD, no heaters.

    Male:
One of 3 Red males - think, Neon Red Guppy from Sr Lanka. New to my tanks so no clue on behaviour or habits.

    Female:
Survivor from a Vietnam import - no clue what it was sold as, but a nice size. New to my tanks so no clue on behaviour or habits.

Added the two after a quick WC the morning of the 03/12/2015. The tank is still heavily tanninted after trying to cure an infection in the other female from the import batch.

Goal: Since this is new blood to my tanks, first would be a good drop, second to introduce some local bread red into my other tanks. Maybe later an endler cross.

She is pre-hit, so will let that drop ... save the fry and after the 3rd drop I hope to have his DNA around.

Saw Jungle aquatics had some really nice red males too and there were 2 red females.

You gonna raise the fry from the pre hit drops?

The males of this red strain are very sturdy looking fish. You will probably get some half black colored fish but also some lighter(purple/pink?) colored ones as the result of the "blue" iridescence carried by the female.

    Looking forward seeing the fry.

I sure am going to raise the fry ... never let a good fry go to waist ;-), I am thinking about adding a few more females to make sure she is not chased ragged. None of that happening at the moment - lets see. Keeping the strain is going to be the tricky part for me - I already had to resist the urge to take one of my breeding tanks make it into a planted tank for the comp that started this month.

I am really no good at predicting colours on guppies - so keen to how these turnout.

hmm she dropped probably 10 fry ... but the male ate 7 and I could only rescue 3 ... not a good sign for future batches.

    Ah well time will tell.

Bad boy bad, hopefully they learn. Was hoping the endler blood in mine would prevent this with most of my broods.

Another two drops before you recon it's his offspring?

I introduced my male to the pre hit female her previous drop, going it again this drop but will be interesting to see the percentage on the first drop.

Spotted maybe 10 fry yesterday ... only 1 today, top left, so yeah we have a problem.

Hopping the three previous larger fry are all female, think they need another week or two to tell.

Would be interesting to see how the fry will look from this mix, like the coloring!

Yeah - have 4 tanks that stayed isolated, so inbreeding ... will see what we have in the mix and get some snaps.

Nice @f-fish happy to see some one else trying for something different than snakeskin. Don't want to offend any one here as I think my target guppy is actually very bland to what you all are aiming for

    Almost forgot about this ...

So I had a mixed start with stock dying from LFS's etc .. in the end probably only had one tank that would make a go of my inbreeding program. She passed, but her bloodline lives on with females showing blue in the fins and some nice red males in the mix with snowy blue backs.

Hope you all have a fishy 2017 ... be safe and kind to those who do not have MTS, they know not what they miss.
