Setup: 3 tanks

2x 40L tanks
1x 60L tank

Breeding stock:

Male:

Description: Ugly fish bread in the drain.

What you like about it: Love the coloring! And tail!

Where it came from: From a guppy group breeding tank

Female 1:

Descriptionretty

What you like about it:Its tail color and blonde (body color same as male )
Where it came from: Same tank as male

Goals: I would like to improve colors in tail, male also has orange bars running vertically along his body ( 3 in total ) would love to improve that and make it more dominant.

Also want to improve the blue in the body

And remove black spots from dorsal!

So finally my contenders are in their new tank/home!




Female is carrying will toss the babies when she drops ( after they are raised and there arnt any males i want to use )

Sorry for bad quality pics but it is dark and had to use my flash! ( no lights )

They will get natural sunlight!

No heaters will be added!

Waiting for some plants to toss in for the fry to hide.

Hi Alex I only have some floating plants but they really like sunlight to grow nicely for fry to hide in it.

Don't overlook some fake plants to keep thinks clean and simple.

 

Okay so,

Im feeding my fish mosquito larvae and redworms. All live!

They seem to be enjoying it! Took them a while to go after the larvae tho.

Females tail after closer inspection looks like the males, red top yellow bottom! Really dull and one needs a light to see it!

Hoping her tail will color up that way!

so i couldnt find a fish on theinternet that looks like the one I would create

but this is very similar



but not exactly what I want!!

so I drew on the fish in paint!! lol!!

and did it rough just so I have a goal to work for and just something to keep me on track

here is what I want to create



it does have a lot of colors and I probably wont reach my goal this year but will give it my best shot.

my male already looks similar to what I want to do and has 3 stripes running down the side but can barely see them with the eye and a light. only on certain angles!!

he technically just needs touching up, but with the female I have. it will make my life harder and they both come from a mixed tank! so who knows what genes are hiding in them!!

hoping for the best!!

 

Eish that one is gonna be tough. One thing at a time.

Hopefully I get some blondes with blue bodies this year, might help you in the future.

 

Yet again my male has died! I dont know why! He was eating and all!

I think theres probably some genetic defect that causes the males not to live as long! As this is my second male that ive lost of that type!

Hoping i get some from my female otherwise i need to change plans!

Breeding is a little slow due to the weather not being as hot as i would like!

Hoping to see some nice fry from the drop of the female and keeping fingers crossed to see atleast 1 similar male!

I do believe that the male you had, have some snakeskin genes in there. You probably will get some snakeskins in the batch.

 

Down for the count again, extensor tendon surgery. Impossible doing water changes.

Good luck with the recovery after the surgery. Rest the hand, as per doctor instructions, fishes will be fine.
