Setup: Build a breeding tank with four compartments. This will be used to selectively breed males and females i want.

I will then use a 3ft tank as my breeding gene pool.

Still need to evict the Goldies.

    Breeding stock:

    Male 1:

    Description: Now known as GM0.
Commonly known as a feeder guppy. Very small in size.
    What you like about it:
    Nice iridescent colors
    Where it came from:
Rescued from a tank that would become food.
What traits would you like to breed forward:
    Color

    Male 2:

    Description:
Now known as TM0. Very young tiger endler male. Still need to grow. Can slightly see bars on body.
    What you like about it:
    Pattern
    Where it came from:
    Sash on this forum
What traits would you like to breed forward: Black pattern on body

    Female 1:

Description: Blue leopard tale female. Prehit
What you like about it: Tail pattern and color. Very big female
    Where it came from: Petstop
What traits would you like to breed forward: Tail pattern, color and size.

    Female 2:

Description: Tiger endler Females. True breeding and virgins.
What you like about it: Same as male I am after the body pattern
    Where it came from: Sash
What traits would you like to breed forward: Pattern

Goals: Breed a multicolor tiger endler/guppy. Color must mainly be iridescent with a nice body pattern.

Inspiration: Original Inspiration was a guppy called Ginga Rubra and the work done on them by this guy Swordtail Guppies: Ginga Sulphureus... ...Evolution of a new strain or variant upon existent?

So let the fun begin and hope for the best.

    Regards
    Gerhard

Finally Mr Guppy reveals his contenders:). I love your mating tank! Brilliantly done! Your selection of parents is going to produce some stunning offspring. Can't wait to see the results.

The parents at this stage is looking a tad dull but having high hopes for the offspring.

Will do the following regarding breeding.

-+17 Dec the colored male will be introduced to the tiger endler females.

The tiger endler male will be introduced to the blue leapord female a day or two before her drop.

So the male and female will breed.
The best looking female offspring will be bred back to the Father.
Out of this daughter father offspring the best looking male will be crossed with the his best looking sister.
    Will then repeat.

After each best looking breeder has done there part it will be added to the gene pool. Here the two lines will be allowed to cross breed freely and simple selective breeding will be applied to the population.

Round about the 1 year mark I will choose the best two males and females out of the gene pool and start the selective breeding again.

If I am lucky I end up with the exact guppy I want or something better sooner, but with unknown genes it's all a surprise game :)

Lennard at this stage I have no clue to what trades will present dominant or recessive.

    Big fat lucky packet.

So the leopard female dropped 9 fry on the 4th of Nov. She was pre-hit.

My male tiger has developed his gonopodium and starting to show nice colors so I thought I would introduce home to the female today that was due to drop again soon.

Hoped to get him in for that small conception window. Anyway put him in and dissipointingly he showed little interest in the female. Maybe just a little stage fright as she is about 5x his size.

    Also added two small females.

Anyway 5 minutes later I notice small fry in the tank :)

I were of too work but the wife caught 17 thus far.

So the male might not be mature enough so might have to wait another month for him to have a go.

OK ended up with 43 fry from the pre hit female. Only raising these out of interest.

First batch of her will be a month old in 2 days but color already showing in the males.

Ok and then while I were not going to the LPS and not looking at guppies I got this male I REALLY like.

He might replace all the other males. It would allow me to skip a few generations of breeding.

Why I like him so much:
1 Bigger then any of the other breeding stock males.
    2 Better looking tail
3 Nice color and green iridescent .
4 Main reason is the pattern he has on his body.

A negative shows the pattern better.

He still needs to grow a little as he has not developed fully yet.

Gary not sure what will happen to it, I can see it still need to grow some. Do not think it will have a very impressive tail but I can develop that when the color and pattern is fixed.

I must try and stick to the ranks I have :)
