    We get Hedgehogs in the garden in the summer. They rummage around in the flower beds at night.
    And in winter sometimes in a certain corner of the garden, I see the piles of leaves in in which they are hibernating.

    Each province has its own rules regarding keeping of wild animals in captivity without a permit. In the EC it is deemed that a hedgehog is a wild animal and that they may not be kept without a permit. I have no idea why this is.

    Sound like how like in Gauteng you need a permit to keep a Burmese python but not a reticulated python.
