Whatever you do do not use chemical algae removers if you have ANY snails or invertabrates in the tank, it contains Copper sulphate otherwise great for getting rid of snails and it does clear your tank. Googled that using Willow stems in your tank will also eventually clear your water as it competes with the algae for nutrients .

Do you have lights in your tank? if so, how long are they on for?

Also direct sunlight can cause algae as well.

@Duke regarding the Algae remover, i used Ista Algae remover for 2 weeks daily and my snails just did their thing, no side affects to them at all.

Yes I have 1x100% daylight in the tank. And its on from about 6 in the morning (my time to go to work) till about 8 at night. It is standing against the wall near a window but the curtains stays closed all the time. My other tank also stands against the same wall but I luckely have no problems with it.

Sounds like the lights are on for too long. Do you have a planted tank?

If not, then that could well be the problem. Try reducing the lighting period to about 6-8 hours.
