Hi there all fellow Aquarium keepers, I'm Edward from Durbanville, Cape Town. I currently have 3 Aquariums. A 90 liter Boyu with the filter in the Lid. It has a breading pair of Tarakatum Catfish roughly 20cm in length, I also have 4 Tetras, They where called Xray Tetras at the pet store. And I have 3 destructive little guys called Rosey Barbs. In the form of bottom feeders I have 2 Bristle nose and 1 albino Plecos.

The other tank I have is mainly for breeding Endlar guppies and Ghost shrimp.

And the last tank is a Cylindrical Vase, 700mm high, 200mm in diameter, that has a Betta and Ghost shrimp.

So, I'm here to learn and ask questions. And share the limited knowledge I have around the topic of Aquariums.

    Welcome! Another durbie member :D

Port hoplo catfish are very cool, how do they breed?

Rosy barbs can be mean, but as a group they're awesome! They'll nibble your plants though

Please don't remind me. I had a fully planted setup. A friend of mine moved, and had to get rid of the tank. I told him I would take it and set it up for him at my place. Long story short, tank broke in transit, fish ended up in my Boyu tank, plants all died. But at least there are no more snails...

Oh no! There are very cheap good sources of plants now, you can easily make a Jungle!

    Got any tank photos? :)

(I'm a sucker for hoplo cats)

Hi, and welcome to the Forum

Yup, we would love to see photos of your tanks.

Hoplos are bubble nest breeders if I remember correctly.

Hoplo cats build bubble nests same as siamese fighters easy to breed once you got a pair and then every 2month once they start earthworms are a great conditioning food cover the tank once the male startsvblowing nests

Pretty cool! I remember at London zoo they had quite a few, they're so adorable but rather rare and pricey. Definitely a fish I'd like one day :)

They are common and not too expensive in the UK.

Have had them in the past, but they get very aggressive at feeding time.

I've seen them once here, about R120 for a 2cm fish I think?

I could imagine, apparently they're built like bricks and they sure look like it!
