    Has grown quite a bit!

What is he eating now, still on worms or is it taking other food yet?

He has been taking carnivore sinking pellets, goes mad for it and also takes pieces of fish mixed with prawn

that a very good start, personally always seems to make me feel better when fish eat pellets. Have you tried mussels find it to be good value for money and great food

Thank you, I’ll try some mussels, does it matter what kind of not, he just stole some of my catfish’s pellets, didn’t have to do anything

Hahha.. maybe the catfish did the trick... will keep that in mind.... might well be a way to teach other pups to eat pellets

The frozen mussel meat without the shell.
Just cut the mussel in half if its big

best option is raw frozen mussels but they can be quite hard to find, the blanched ones still work now but took a bit of a adjust period

You can use from the Ocean, sure he will love it
Just freeze them for two or three days before feeding to kill any nasties

I have given up on trying to get my Rays to take pellets
But I was talking to a big Ray breeder a few months ago. He was telling me that youngsters do much better without them and he feeds fresh fish, prawn, mussel etc. He says that their growth is so much better on natural food.

Some of ours will eat pellets but some just don't want to know nothing about pellets
I do agree that natural food is the best for them but I think that its also good when they do eat pellets as, Im sure a good pellet has some added nutrients/vitamins which you cant completely supply on natural food only especially if you limited to what they will eat
I suppose Its also nice in an emergency..
They do have a mind of their own but also noticed that as they get older they become less fussy and pounce on anything that drops in the tank!!

If you have a pond for him, that's great

Meantime, just keep a close eye.. he will grow much faster than the baby so watch that baby doesn't become lunch

Also watch that the little ray gets enough food as those guys are like vacuum cleaners

As for the Oscar.. you need to keep an eye on him too and see how it goes
He is young so might be ok... but I have found that once they settle in the tank and chose their territory in the tank, they go for the rays and bite them to chase them away from their side of the tank
So... just monitor things carefully and if baby stops eating, its your first sign that something is going on
