    Hi there

Yesteday i did a water change and noticed some white stuff on my Flowerhorns fins its on the tips and like the border of the fins , i wonder if anyone can tell me if i should be worried or if its just something they go through . Its growing on his Caudal , Dorsal and Anal fins

(Sorry for bad pic quality he is very active and wont stay still long enough for a decent pic)

I'd say wait and see, you don't want to treat something incorrectly due to an incorrect diagnosis.

If possible, maybe a video might help? It reduces the problem of blur, as seen here.

Is there any reason as to why something might be afflicting the fins? Does it have tank mates, and are they nippy? Sharp decor in the tank? Did you recently add something to the tank that might carry foreign organisms into the tank (even parasites), such as plants, decor, filter media, new fish etc.?

    Regards,

Nope he lives alone as he attempts to eat all, tank is also basically bare just some gravel and one silk plant (The gravel is new was inserted 2 weeks ago) The plant he has came with him from his previous tank ( if snails count as tankmates he has 2 golden apples with him but they to came from previous tank)

keep your water parameters up, if this does not improve you can add some salt, but give it time first.

I agree.. keep up your water changes, its the most important

Monitor a few days and if it looks like its spreading, I would add salt

It looks like he might just have nicked his fins on something and damaged the tips of his hard rays.

At first glance I thought it could be anchor worms.
    They are extremely rare though.
    Tough call without better pictures.

That's just the blur I think. Looks like little white dots on the hard ray in that one pic where it's more focused.

Just a tip on getting a better shot. What I do if the fish moves a lot is to take a vid and then use vlc to take a snapshot where the frame is in focus. That's how I take pics of my fry otherwise they are just one big blur.

I can't do that atm as I can't find my test kit after we moved, today they are almost gone altogether though but it does look like he damaged his "hard rays" that someone referred to earlier and it's almost all healed up now :) just one little white mark left

I got the terminology mixed up, it's actually soft rays. The hard rays are the thicker spines. Glad he's doing well.
