I have an old Tetratec EX1200 filter.
The impeller has 2 plastic ends attached to the magnet that have detached and it is now really noisy.

What glue can I use to reattach them that will not harm the fish in the tank?
    Silicon? Superglue? Hot glue? Pratley?

I don't think I can get spares anymore as the filter is really old.

    Thanks
    Paul

Had this happen too. I don't think chemical bonding will suffice as it turns at a high rpm.

I got a replacement off loot.

Normal super glue is fish safe once dry. The gel is the best option because it won't run everywhere

I agree with the gel super glue. It can't get worse than it already is. The only other thing I would suggest is phoning anyone who stocks Tetratec products, they might be able to source it for you, but it will likely take months. I sealed a canister filter shut with silicone a few weeks ago because it was leaking and I couldn't find a replacement seal.

I have bought 5.3mm o-ring material from bearing man to replace the tetratec seal. That worked well.
I will try super glue. Usually all it sticks is my fingers.:(

oops - just found this -

Superglue is indeed waterproof, but not for extended periods of time. For fixing objects that come into occasional contact with water, superglue will hold its bond. But if the object is submerged for a lengthened period of time the bonds will weaken. Additionally, superglue is a valid solution for fixing objects in a moist environment, as the bonds that form from Ethyl cyanoacrylate do so under the presence of moisture. If you are looking to fix an item that must stay submerged, look to epoxy. Superglues much stronger older brother.

Just use epoxy then. Put this in to google and you'll find someone selling it: epoxy glue site:co.za

Just replace the impeller. You are putting s plaster on it and not dealing with the issue

    Agree.
Don't think this will be a long term fix.
