At the moment they are just over a month old @Ammar and doing great. Still only had the 1 loss so defnitly I'm doing something right. Regarding sales, all these are spoken for but with future spawns and fry there will defnitly be some available.

I realy hope your boss has a aquarium and understands the problems we face every day.

lol, well keep me in mind whenever you get any kind of fry.. actually i will wait for you to get your red tails rainbows sorted and get from you.

regarding my boss, he sponsored my work fish tank a couple years back, im trying trying to convince him to build a monster in reception.
winning tank of the month helps a bit ;P

    Update time.

Fry is doing great and growing at a decent pase. Doing wc on this tank takes ages as I need to use an airline for it. The moment I put my hand in the tank they swarm around it, as if I'm food and not the feeder.

The 5 adults are going about their normal routine now. Today 5 fish eating. Tomorrow and the following 4/5 days I female holding eggs. Next day 5 fish eating. Every time I start feeling like this is it she eats the eggs. Hopefully somwhere in the future there might be another batch of fry. I have no current need to strip the female of eggs/fry but must consider it for the future. Maby.

Thanks @MariaS. Looks to be a constant problem with the cross bands and nobody knows why.

Is there any fish psycologists on TASA?

Thanks Maria. It is just so fasinating watching them as each o e is on his own mission in that tank. Some are showing some big attitude already.

Now that they are bigger you can clearly see that each one has it's own pattern

Day 46 for the fry. I have noticed that there is 1 fry lacking behind on growth. At the moment he is about half the size of the othere fry. Not completely sure if this is a form of stunting, as we see with discus. Only time will tell.

Just a short video of them enjoying their micro worms.

At time like this I feel like 'Losing my religion' and shouting 'hold on, hold on' Defnitly listening to REM while working in the fish room this morning.

Did a bit of an upgrade on the chochs tank last weekend. Added a 3rd filter that pushes water up the pannel above the water. In time this should, hopefully, be covered in plants.6142a30968f4eeb33464d48bb45d4a15.jpge36818474f507e534b465266200fd59f.jpg

Sadly I have lost the smallest fry of the group. He got extremely thin and lethargic and I had to huthenize him. But the other 12 is doing awesome and growing nicely.

Excuse the algae growing on the back and side glass but I'm not removing it as it is a nice natuaral source of zoo plankton for the fry5d44160117d37acca25183b94d5eea4b.jpg

Thanks @MariaS. Tank was originaly set up for 2 blue bolt shrimp, which I killed unfortunately. Never thought it would become a grow out tank for these little guys.

I bumped into @Marco at my lfs last weekend. For the people that doesn't know, Marco is the top discus and ram breeder in SA. The advice he gave me I would like to share here as we all tend to do this. This advice came after I mentioned to him that my females hold eggs but then eats them after a few days. What he said was that we tend to keep on repeating the same prosess which leads to the same result every time. Change 1 thing, from the normal, is what needs to be done which might change the outcome

So for this week there will be no wc in the 2ft with the adults. There was a positive spawn on tuesday the 30th of October and the female is holding eggs at the moment. Water quality is still very good in the tank with tds at 31ppm this morning. Will do a full test on the tank later today just to make sure everything is 100%. I also added some alder cones to the 2ft and cube today. Maby this combination will just work for this batch.
