So this week I have started a new adventure. Killifish.

I was kind enough to recieve a group of these from a friend who was clearing out some tanks, turns out the 4 that were promised turned to 8 since they had some babies in the meantime. So I have a few youngsters to raise too, challenge accepted!

Will let the pictures do the talking!

This tank isn't permanent. Will be setting up a different 60l lower down on the shelf, when summer comes they need it cool, and I will hopefully do some sort of biotope theme!

They still have a bit to grow, in terms of diet I am feeding:
    • Frozen bloodworm
    • Frozen mosquito larvae
    • Powdered foods (Very rich)
    • Baby brine shrimp
    • Microworms (For the fry)
Hopefully I can coax them to breed some more, I'm enjoying them a lot already!

    They are gorgeous @Hendre!!!

Congratulations and best luck with new venture!

They always bring back memories of my days in Mozambique when after the rains the rivers and small dams came alive with millions of them

I'm not convinced that the picture of the gold female is a female. To me it looks more like a wounded male that has become pale/sick because of other dominant males biting him.

It was definitely not a male and was ignored by the other fish. So far they are very calm.

Unfortunately the gold fish died, it had some swim bladder issues when it came in.. Luckily the gold gene can be present in the other fish and can appear again in young. Guess I will have to wait and see. An unfortunate occurance :(

    They should carry the gene!

I suspect they are already spawning, a mop will be in the works soon!
