    Hi Guys

Decided to start backup, been buying my equip the last few months, and close to start stocking the tank.
here is a Pic of the current look, going to be adding Lava rock to the tank to scape it, still need to but a lot, as i want to create a "reef" or 2 islands one on each side.

Well give me suggestions or some constructive criticism on the tank and let see where the tank leads me.

Looks very spacious as is! How big is it?

The blue light works for certain kinds of setups, so try work with it. Bear in mind, however, that blue light can also encourage a little more algal growth, so keep an eye on that.

Planning on stocking with Lake Tanganyika primarily. That's the idea so far.

Tank size is H 75cm L 150cm W 45cm. and the sump filter is 140cm long, total actual water volume if i did the sum corectly is between 540 to 580 liters.

    @JRH
To get volume: LxBxH / 1,000
    So I get 506L
There will be a bit less as one doesn't fill to the brim, displacement for substrate, rocks etc.

    That's a nice size tank.
@Jack Stone would be able to advise on a good stocking list of fish.

I would be careful with lava rock
It can be very abrasive and if a fish swims into it by mistake, could cause a lot of damage.

Ok so update, looks like my tank is starting to become stable. I have added the first few small fishy's and i have not had any casualties. 10 Neon's and 3 Molly's. Neon's are schooling in the tank and looks amazing. Here are some photo's that you can have a look. i stared to think about what @Reedfish said about the lava rock that could damage the fish, so for now i'm stuck with undecided what scaping to do in the tank.

So i'm open to suggestions of what to do.

I'm not a blue light fan BUT it really makes those rocks and sand look very good, very mariney. Something different for a change.

Just watch out for algae growth with the blue light.
It does make the stone in the tank stand out though.

This weekend i added some plants to the tank and it looks stunning, but it was a bit of a rush, will restructure it later when i have some time. Some plants i put in the tank and some i put in the sump or safe keep until this weekend when i can work a little bit more.

It's weekend ... lets get planting

PFS can work very well for a planted tank, does mean you need to do regular water column fertz since your substrate is inert and has zero CEC i.e. ability to store nutrients.

You PFS will level out, so just do that from day 1.

    Keep posting them pics.

    Later Ferdie

Will do, as the tank grows i will keep taking photos. Will start dosing the tank end of the month when i get pay, as Jan has been a very tight month. But i do use borehole water like a bucket or 2 every other day. So that should keep them going until then, the foxtail has easily grown like 20cm in the pas few days.

Really nice so far @JRH ! Worth mentioning though.. I think your lava rock is possibly blast furnace slag. I've seen this stuff doing the rounds in the Gauteng stores.
