I think @DoubleDutch also keeps blackwater biotope tanks for his vast cory collection. Perhaps other tanks too.

@DoubleDutch would you mind filling in the short thread questionnaire for us to tell us about your planted tank approach?

I'm enjoying the thread and dig the setups! I only really have one truly planted tank currently running, plus my moderately planted breeder tank.
Will nonetheless get involved when I get some new pics. Did a H202 treatment recently though and that tends to hammer plants a little until they bounce back.

Plus three 'holding tanks' - will get into details later!

Cool! Luckily this is not a competition so nothing has to be picture perfect  it’s more about your approach/journey/what you’re up to

    My 3 foot.20190829_142933.jpg

    1. How many planted tanks do you currently keep? For the purposes of this poll, if you have at least 1 live plant, it counts. For interest sake, how many L of water does this add up to?

    1 tank
    100l/3 foot

    2. What is your prime focus / interest? Aquascaping / fishkeeping / both equally.
    Fish keeping

    3. Which aquascaping style describes your planted tank(s) best? Do you keep tanks in different styles or do you tend to stick to one specific style

These two fit me perfectly :)
    - jungle
    - I won’t call my planted tank ‘scaped’, I just wing it

    4. How long have you kept planted tanks for? Has your style changed along the way?
Started keep tanks since last year

    5. How do you feel about keeping live aquatic plants?
    - They’re awesome! I feel like fish look happier with them, lol

    6. How many different plant species do you currently keep? If you have 2 types of crypts, it counts as 2.
    - 1 to 10. I dont know much about plants, i just buy whats available and stick it in and hope for the best. I really need to up my game

    7. Are your tanks high-tech or low-tech?
Lower end of low tech, I dnt add anything. I just change water

    8. Tank pruning/trimming schedule?

    - when I see the need and to remove dead plants and stems

@BradK nice - I like it! Those tiger barbs are very cool too.
Would you mind answering those 6 questions (go to 1st post) to tell us more about your style / approach?

Ok cool thanks, see you’ve added it

This pic is a couple months old. The jungle val has recently, gotten out of control, I will try to get another pic up. There are 6 Bronze Cory, hiding somewhere in there, I love those fish.

@BradK I like your tank purely for the natural look you have going there. I get the idea of a glass box dropped into a river. Sometimes over thinking happens when you scape.

    Wow , thanks guys. lol.
I honestly didnt expect this reaction. I really didnt over think it, i simply like tried to cover up the filter and let the plants flow with the current. My new tank will have a similar flow. I wish i didnt have to any gear, in my tank, at all..

:D sharing is caring when it comes to tank photos :p "cover up the filter" is why I have my Sword where I do... next tank is definitely going to be drilled and using a sump system that I can hide away, so much neater. As for that Jungle Val, where did you get it from? I can't find any at the local shops I frequent...

My first attempt at planted tank, since about 1996. Small 100L community tank. Some amazon swords and crypts and others I cannot ID. Started in Jan this year. No ferts, just lots of fish poop. These are the latest pics. I just removed a ton of java moss as it got so out of hand that the fish almost had no space to swim.

No fancy soils just a mixture of aquarium gravel and PFS. No fancy lighting, just 2x9w CW led tubes and 1x 9w blue led tube.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
