Yep and this list has fish, plants, inverts, amphibians etc all in one spot. Thanks again @T. Guppy and will be great if you could help us get our hands on the new one too once released. Our retailers who want to be responsible are finding it so difficult to get clarity.

@MariaS as far as I understand the NEMBA list is the gold standard, right?

Interesting but axolotls are actually not on the list of prohibited amphibians...
And i also can’t find marimo moss balls (not saying that I’d buy it myself).

According to posts I've been seeing on fb recently, axolotls are not black listed anymore, but there are specifications around selling them. I forget exactly, but I think it was that pet stores are not allowed to stock/sell them, but private individuals can. Something like that.

I've been trying to find out what kind of amphibians are allowed to be kept in SA - dart frogs, axolotl etc, and mostly met with dead ends. Will be pretty cool if we can get them legally, as a big axolotl paludarium/riparium looks amazing

But surely if there were such restrictions they would’ve put it on the list?

No idea. I found a lot of completely prohibited freshwater fish on that list that we all keep, including cichlids, killifish, catfish, gobies, minnows, etc. I didn't look in detail, so maybe the ones indigenous to SA are allowed. I also didn't check scientific names. So I only hope that it's not as simple as finding the common name on the list.

Further googling re axolotls said they are not allowed to be sold or bred but can be kept. So honestly i don't know. Didn't find anything official.
Personally their care requirements are a bit too hectic for me to actually consider keeping one, even though they are super cute, so I'm not too determined in my searching for legal requirements on keeping them.

You need to look at specific species names, not all cichlids minnows etc are prohibited... I don’t think any of us keep illegal fish, it’s very rare that it pops up on the forum so don’t stress :)

Looks like the restrictions on axolotls might have changed so past information on the internet might not be applicable any more....???

yeah, i figured i probably needed to look more carefully.
None of the fish applied to me immediately and i was looking in a rush so didn't go too much into detail.
