Hi me again. I have read many posts on the gravid spot on guppies, to see when they are close to giving birth.Does the same apply to mollies, swordtails, and platties?

Haha that is a bit of a bummer. The reason why im asking is i have noticed that a guppy has a more transparent body as compared to the other fish

Nearly all livebearer females have the gravid spot to a greater or lesser degree....its basicly just the eyes of the babies you are seeing through the expanded abdominal wall.... So in uncoloured small fish like a Guppy or Endlers it's way easy to spot, but more difficult on a big Sailfin Molly female... Especialy more so if the female in question is a darker colour....
My "trigger" for knowing when a female is close to "popping" is that she tends to withdraw herself from the general mayhem of the tank and retreats to a quiet back area of the tank where she stays near motionless....in general she drops within the next 3 days or so...
