What I would like to know is if I can give my cichlids earthworms straight from the ground after they have been rinsed or is there another way and how much per fish and how often

When using earthworms from any source, be sure to leave them in a container so that they can pass out any soil they might be processing in their systems, as that soil may contain some harmful substances (ant poison, strange fertilizer ingredients etc).

After a few hours (after they've pooped), give them a quick wrinse in a container, then feed them to your fish. For smaller fish, cut up the worms a few times.

    HI Gareth,

I am only newe to the site, so sorry for late reply :)
I currently have earthworms in a "worm farm", so I use them. My large Cichlids(Jags) dont really like them, but my Malawis love them. I only feed them like once every two weeks, so no harm has come to them as of yet.

If you are giving them whole, track and trace each one.
As they can amazingly live in your gravel for weeks.

This maybe just my unique experience

True, I had the same experience the first time, so now I feed them 1 by 1 :)
