Hi there. I am looking for some fish (obviously)
I would like to know if there are any breeders of some really good quality zebra angelfish. P. Scaelar OR if anyone knows how to get hold of proper Altums.
I know that altums are difficult to get hold of and I thought I'd start here to see if I can maybe track some down.
If anyone knows of good zebra angelfish breeders please let me know.

Perhaps @Hendre could put you in touch with Prof Dirk? In Somerset West I think.

Speaking from experience you are looking were looking at about R900 a fish a few years back. This was from an import and not from a LFS

Get in touch with petstop SA. They had genuine Altums at the end of last year. Imported and quarantined for 4 weeks before sale. The price was R1200 he got in 35 of them.

Yup, Altums are pricey. Breeding in captivity is pretty tough for them, so most specimens are wild caught (i think)

Price is a dead giveaway if its a genuine Altum or not. Anything less than R1000 is probably not.

Also didn't think it was so expensive but I can understand why. They not extremely common as far as I know (partially why I want them also coz they look awesome!) and the breeding in captivity is not common at all, kinda want to try breed them but 1 step at a time

Genuine Altams are very tricky to keep.
Apparently more so than wild Discus

They need very soft, fairly acidic water kept pretty warm. They share a tank well with discus, but are super sensitive to water quality.

Not worried about water quality. Got a very stable water source and from all my tests my filter is seriously kicking well so I'll be fine with that. Running a discus tank already for 7 months so it's well cycled. I enjoy making strong filters so ya :D
