    Hi All

I am looking for suggestions for Red plant specifically, I want to try making a tank full of red plants, preferably without C02, what would you suggest?

You might struggle a bit to get lots of red without CO2, unless you are doing something about water hardness.

Only plant i've had that stayed red was Rotala Colourata - EpicAquatics sometimes supply it to all the stores. Alternanthera reineckii can work well in low-tech, but needs soft water to grow properly. I had it once before and it was mostly a melting algae farm.

Yep as @fux940510 said if you want the really vibrant reds you’d need to go high tech probably.

In low tech you can get some good colour nuances IF you use a Zetlight or similar with the right spectrum.

Ludwigia repens’Red Rubin’ is the easiest red plant for low tech

Rotala rotundiflora is pinkish, needs an active substrate in the long run

Bucephelandra ‘Godzilla’ and there are other reddish buces

Yes I also haven’t had luck with AR in the jungle tank but think @T. Guppy is growing it in Gauteng in low tech. Not sure if it’s still growing?

You also get some red-ish Crypts that works well in low tech, like undulatus ‘Red’ or the red Crypt wendtii. Can’t remember what variety this is, but it is doing well in a low tech tank, standard Fluval 19 liter tank with weekly wc’s and once a week Flourish dose:

I also have some Ludwigia glandulosa doing quite well in the 65L. Grows much much slower than ludwigia repens but has a much deeper colour than repens. In high tech it will be much brighter

I've got a single Crypt Undulatus 'Red' that appears to be doing ok, currently more bronze than red though. Same for all the Crypt Axelrodi that i've been steadily multiplying the last year or so.

Pygmy chain sword is an easy one, I got some in my QT now with Langa, taken hold real well. Early days still.

Think the Latin name is heliantium tenellum but also sometimes sold under old name Echinodorus tenellus.

This particular one I believe was an ADA in vitro pot (got looots from 1 pot) and is supposed to develop a bronze colour over time yes (can’t remember the colour variety). I don’t think it will ever be completely red, even in high tech.

I don’t think there are any red carpeting plants really. Mostly stems and buces. And hygrophila pinnatifida in high tech.
