    Hello Everybody

I have a strange situation, im new at this hobby i have got a new tank 60L run it for a week with internal filter that came with it as starter kit, after that i bought
    - 7 Danois (5 zebras and 2 leopard)
    - 2 Fancy male Guppies
    - 2 painted Platties (male and femal)
    - 3 Orange Swordtail (2 Female and 1 male)
I think im experiencing a new tank syndrome but not an issue im dealing with it, i went and i bought a new filter (Seachwm tidal 55) its working like magic.

Two nights ago i couldn’t find the male swordtail fish, i have looker every where in the tank removed decorations and nothing was found also checked around the tank if he jumped (i keep the led open) nothing was found.. he just disappeared, i can’t process this matter its bothering me

Has anyone experienced something like this ?!
Any suggestions or ideas what happened or where he could be lying dead ?!

    Thanks in advance

Do you have any other pets around the tank?

Best to close the lid, helps to limit water evaporation and retains heat, also keeps fish inside and unwanted guests out xD

You can cut the lid to fit snugly over you hob filter.

@Kiaan26 No i do not have other pets and no outsiders can get in the house either
@Toy I inly kept it open these week to help the bacteria bloom with oxygen
Yes im gonna cut it to fit the size of the filter this weekend, i don’t have other pets or people that can harm the fish

It is a really strange that i can’t find it, it was an adult male Swordtail fish

Have you checked inside the filter?
On a Seachem Tidal there are a few strange places the fish could hide.
Remember to remove the filter media holder and also check under the Matrix bag as well as the sponge.

As you know, they are very good jumpers. Check the floor surrounding and underneath the tank. Lost a few with a gap of 5mm on the sides of my canopy.

How long has he been missing? A full grown male should take at least two days to devour. That, considering your other fish are well fed, LOL!

    Hi @Amine and welcome
Depending how long it took before noticing he was missing, other fish would have probably eaten him, it is normal
He could have also gotten stuck somewhere and decomposed and actually be the cause if your " new tank syndrome "

I'm really shocked after reading your story. How it is possible to miss your fish? You need to check aquarium very well may be your fish stuck somewhere, After checking the aquarium if you still not found your fish then it would be a high chance to eaten by other fish.
