3 Ft cheapie tank, some dolphin internal filter, 2 "Wish" LED light (Fricken awesome for R30). no additives used, just plain black sand and fish poop

Load: 8 guppies (started), 1 panda corrie, one bristle nose.... Now millions of guppies, added 6 venustus fry as well, think you can see one on the pictures.

Plants... Collected trough the years and some coverage (seeds) imported from wish.

Branches I picked up next to the beach.

Dont know if its frowned upon, but i cull the deformed guppies by adding them to my cichlid tanks

I think it looks stunning @braailegend

Amazing what can actually be achieved with little expense
Absolutely nothing wrong with culling deformed fish.
I have problem if people breed from deformed fish unless you know the deformity is an injury and fish or animal is still fine to breed from

What substrate is that "black sand". I like these natural looking tanks, looks awesome.

It's just normal black sand from petshop... In this case, I got it with another tank. There is however a little brown layer from bark and organics, due to age.

The small leaf plants/ coverage was a packet of seeds that came with something I ordered from wish. Just put a pinch of seeds in, and next day there was leaf. Very careful not to wash water into the drains/toilet from this tank. As I'm not sure what plant it is or how it can take over

On another note, is it normal that all the guppy offspring seem to be female? I'm not getting any males

I would lie if I said I know why but just a thought..

If you haven't added new blood to the tank in.. years.. could this not maybe be a result of heavy inbreeding?
Its just what crossed my mind....

You could try selling some of yours and buy a few from fresh bloodlines and see what happens

They have only been in there for about 6 months, so maybe 3 generations. Maybe it's just me id'ng them wrong, but none of them have the wavy tail the original males have

Oh ok.. thought it was longer

I haven't had guppies since I was a little girl and my Dad had hundreds but from what I know they mature pretty quickly and you should be able to see some with the wavy tail by now

But, then again, I think that to keep certain traits I would think that you would have to consistently select those that show the trait and breed from them only
In a mixed community like that where those that don't carry the trait are allowed to breed, it is possible that the trait works itself out

Nice lights! I'm actually also in the market for some myself. Postage just takes forever (Dear SAPO handling things). Also, you are more likely to see deformities with interbreeding and a lack of new bloodlines. These guys can breed pretty heavily.

Shipping takes forever waiting for some more lights, which I ordered 3months ago, but feel it's worth it, as there is nothing wrong with quality (and I have spare lights to make do, haha)
