    Hi everyone,

So I started a new project about 6 weeks ago. Taking it slow. Its a dual tank stand for a 120 x 35 x 30 tank at the bottom and some breeding tanks at the top - at least for a little while. What I have done so far:

    5.%20Stand%20Built_zpsgvr40y6x.jpg

I sprayed it black today and since this photo was taken I have cut the shelving to size, but I still want to adjust the cuts so the shelving is not too tight fitting as I do not want to damage the spray job while working on the shelving. The tank was ordered yesterday and I am awaiting a quote on Fluorite Black Sand. So basically all that is left after that is sorting out lighting and I am good to go. Aiming at having this up and running by September sometime.

So the big tank will never have all the sides on the tubing? Will need solid shelving that will not creep.

Keen to see how these connector stands work a few years in, esp since in this type of config we will always have sheering on at least on of the arms.

    Does look very neat.

The big tank will not be on the tubing except for the center horizontal brace. I have 19 mm plywood that I cut to the size of the frame and then just cut corners and a back center piece for the uprights so it fits in snugly. Just want to make it a bit easier to insert and take out as it is scraping against the uprights when I put it in or take it out to work on it which results in the paint being scraped off. I will post pics when I am done but since its school holidays and my next afternoon work shift is only on 16 July I wont have time to work on it. Rather spend the time with the wife (she's a teacher) and my boys while they are less busy with life in general.

Yes it is. Been doing it for almost 20 years. My oldest is 4 - he is showing an interest in the hobby. I let him feed my fish under my supervision and he helps with WC. My youngest is 18 months - he just wants to put his hands in the water and touch everything.

Time for the next exciting update ...... dum dum dum

Found my old 4th tanks reflectors. Cleaned them up and added them onto a shelf.

Also cut and fit the shelving as well as sealed it with Waxsol (not the ear drops, the wood oil). Once it dries properly it will work well. As Hanibal Smith always says " I love it when a plan comes together"

    Got my tank on Saturday:

Put a black backdrop on it, finished the lights and moved it into place:

Just need to neaten the wiring up a bit now. Still waiting for the flourite and then I can start aquascaping

Thanks MariaS. The vinyl backdrop is the best one I have done so far - I have had a bit of practice. It came out with no imperfections. I am very pleased. And I have a fairly good idea of how I am going to aquascape this tank. And with the shallowness the light will reach the bottom easily

    Thanks Adrian and Ammar

I have not decided which fish i am putting in the tank. It will be a small schooling fish. Or I may just use it as a grow out tank for my CPDs. This tank is aimed at being a planted tank. I have some dwarf hair grass that will carpet nicely. Then I want to get some lava rocks from Makro (read it in another post somewhere - think it was Hendre?). Will try and get a nice aquascape going

Macro sells small lava rock pieces, not sure where you'll get big pieces unless you stack them! I use it for extra rhizome pieces
