Nice. How big is your tank?
at the moment have a 2.2m x 700 x 700 and have a 3.3m x 800 x 800 sitting in the garage that will be set up towards the end of the year...
Cool fish man
Woah that's cool! For those of us that are used to more normal fish, can you give us a quick few words about it?
@tanked72 Thanks, been my dream for a long time..
Well its cool. Dream to come. True @Cesar
How long. Have u been in the hobby @Cesar ?
@RoGe still new to the whole sting ray keeping as I've only had him for 3 weeks but have done ALOT of homework...
Needs a large tank but more the width than length.. will be keeping him with my Arowana for now and when the time comes
we will upgrade again..
on arrival home I had my 3ft tank set up and running with water that was taken from large tank, acclimated him with a drip method
that took an hour, once the time was right and he was ready he was transferred to temp home ( when transferring you need to make sure you keep them
under water as they are very sensitive to parasites )
heater guards area a must, sting rays like to sit by the heater and if you don't have guard on they will get burnt ..
The night he went into the tank he burrowed himself, next morning he was swimming around..
feed him Hikari carnivore pellet's in the morning and earthworms in the evening...
So far he's very active swimming around most of the day and the min you go near the tank he come to the glass looking for food..
just to mention I do 50% water change every 2nd day.
will be transferring him to the 2.2m tank this weekend.
like I've said still new to sting rays and if there is any one out there that has and could give some more advise, it would be appreciated..
@tanked72 been around tanks since a child as both mom (Marias on the forum) and granddad have had fish..
pretty much stuck with me all along until a year ago when I decided to go with the larger tanks to be able to house my dream fish.
Really cool, got it from Boksburg?
Awesome! that is one of the items on my bucket list, we need regular updates and pics of him/her in that 3.3m tank, you so lucky!
Silly question as I Have never kept. Rays do they also have that barb thing by his tail @Cesar ?
@Jwh.. yes i got him from Bocksburg...
@GaryG.. will keep you guy all posted as to how he is doing and post lots of pics once the tank is up and running.. as far as i could see on the new blacklist they are no longer a problem..
@tanked72... yes they do have the barb on the tail, there is a way to remove it but im not going to put the ray through that as it will take 6 months and it will grow back and you have to do it again...
@Jwh... sorry typo Boksburg...
Stunning ray dude. Glad to see that you have done the homework, but then again fish keeping is in your blood....
Looking forward to seeing the bigger tank. In the meantime please share in your journey with some pics.
How much did this he/she set you back? If anyone wants one, is it easy to order?
@koganm.. depending on the exchange rate the price does differ a bit.. was told R2500.00 when i was looking but somthing came up and i never ordered him..
when i went back i landed up paying R3200.00... placed the order on a Tuesday and by the weekend he was there.. biggest thing is to make sure he is eating before you bring it home..
will share all i can and how it goes with the ray..
Thx for the info @Cesar. Looking forward to this thread.
