@HugBug Is that wall NW facing? If so, I had the same problem, a hairline plaster crack on the outside wall and the wind pushed the rain through the wall and into the bathroom.

Dh says its North, or North East, or somewhere between the two lol.

We have a leak detector coming today so hopefully they will be able to tell us where exactly the water is coming from (a leak inside the bath cavity, or rising damp, or rain through the wall)

Whichever it is. Please ensure that it's taken care off the soonest. That mould is extremely unhealthy especially to small kids and can cause breathing issues.

Thanks, yes, the leak detector is coming out today to figure out where exactly the water is coming from, and then we'll sort it asap.

Putting pond work on hold until it's sorted as the areas are so close together.
Hopefully it'll all be sorted before the end of this week so we can make the most of the dry days next week to fininsh off the pond (or at least make major headway).

The pond is officially on hold for a while longer.
The leak detectors put some gas in the pipes and then used a special detector to try and find where it was leaking out, but it was inconclusive. However, seeing the water on the wall and the surrounding damp, he has no doubt it is coming from inside the bath. So now they need to break open a section of the wall from the outside to find it and repair it, and then builders must come fix the broken wall. It's all going through insurance so runs on their timelines (luckily they're pretty quick and always send good workers), so we have to wait for all of that to finish before we can continue with the pond build as they are so close together.

    Thanks @Reedfish
The leak detectors came back today and opened a section of the back wall. They think it's a slow leak from the pipes under the bath but are now waiting to hear back from insurance whether they must move all the pipes to outside the back wall, or if they must rather remove the tiles around the bath to get to the problem.
So now we sit with a gaping hole in the wall right on time for a day of heavy rains

My entire house is a nightmare at the moment.
Just finished building renovations on the front of the house which has resulted in a massive bad leak over the door between garage and lounge. Various other issues. All now capped off by the bathroom wall leaking. Feels like my house is leaking on all sides.

    Just sell the house now

But back to the pond can't you leave a small 5 cm gap between it and the house

The intention is to leave a space the length of a brick between the house and the pond. But we need to find and fix the leak in the wall first as it's right next to where the pond is so much require them to open up the wall to fix it, which will be easier if there isn't a pond wall blocking it.

In the picture it looks like the base slab of the pond joins the house because the foundation of the pond is so close to the foundation of the house that we just joined the two at the top.
But when it comes to actually putting down the brickwork we will be leaving a gap.

I'm glad you not building it right against the house wall. How's the leak going they get approval yet?

Last we heard is that they've appointed a mobile assessor to come and check it out (I'm assuming they didn't like the recommendations from the leak detectors as it will likely require a rather big job to fix it), but so far no sign or sound from the assessor, so still waiting.

We do, however, have a team of four electricians redoing all the electrical work done by the contractor during the renovations as none of that was done to code o_O
